Rehearsal this Friday 2nd September

Sue has finished working through the rehearsal schedule, and has had
trouble fitting things in!

This means that our first rehearsal of the term will be at 8pm on Friday 2nd at the usual venue.

We appreciate that not everyone will be able to make it at short notice, but if you can be there, please do!

Hope you all had a great summer break,

Don’t forget – wear Red!

As previously announced, we’ll be raising funds for The Alzheimer’s Society at our rehearsal this week.

Wear something Red (or Pink) and please bring along something red for the raffle, or perhaps some home made cakes for the cake sale!

Valentine Charity Evening – Friday 11th February

In what has become an annual tradition, we will once more be using our rehearsal nearest St Valentine’s day to do some fundraising for an external charity.

This year, we have decided to support The Alzheimer’s Society, which has significance now for several company members.

The rehearsal is themed Red, so please wear something red or pink if you can, preferably somewhere that everyone can see it! Please also bring along something red for the raffle or, if that way inclined, bake some cakes for a cake sale.

Of course, we’ll still be rehearsing as usual that night, so bring along your dancing feet and clearest vocal chords too – plus plenty of cash, naturally!

See you there…

Christmas Show Dates announced!

Now that February has arrived, it is time to start thinking about Christmas!

Our show will be from the 7th to the 9th of December 2011, at the Fairlawn Hall in Southall.

Exact details of the show are still to be arranged, but we currently expect it to be an “adult pantomime” – probably suitable for children, but something fun for adults to enjoy too – with a Christmas theme.

More details closer to the time.

Front Of House volunteers needed

Now that rehearsals are under way for our next show, which will run from the 7th to the 9th of July at the Compass Theatre in Ickenham, the committee and production team have begun to think about the practicalities of staging a show in a theatre.

One thing that is absolutely essential is a team of volunteers to help out Front Of House (in the foyer and auditorium).

We need a Front of House manager, ideally for all three nights, plus three extra people for each of the three performances. The volunteers will need to be reasonably able-bodied, since they will need to help guide people towards the exits in the event of an emergency (very rare, but we need to be prepared, just in case).

No previous experience is required, as Compass staff give all necessary training at the beginning of the evening.

Front of House volunteers would usually get to see most, if not all, of the show without needing to buy a ticket. However, there must be one member of the team in the Foyer at all times, and this person won’t be able to see the show. It is usual for volunteers to swap over during the interval, or else for someone to volunteer for more than one show, so they get to watch on at least one night.

If you would like to volunteer, or know anyone you can press-gang persuade to volunteer, then please talk to Mike during one of the rehearsals, or drop us a line by email.

The show cannot “go up” (i.e. start) unless all the front of house team are present, so please only volunteer if you are sure you’ll be able to make it (barring exceptional circumstances, of course).

I’ve just copied the old Picture gallery page from our old site to WordPress.

It doesn’t have the newer picture galleries in it – these will be in the Picture Galleries category

Back to Rehearsals for “From West End to Broadway”

We’re back to rehearsals on the 7th of January 2011 at 7:45 pm prompt, please. There is a lot to get done as we begin the process of casting our Summer show.

Contact if you need information about how to get there…

Christmas Break

After our Christmas Party and Show on the 17th December, we’ll be taking a little break from rehearsals until the new year.

Our first rehearsal after Christmas will be at 7:45pm for 8:00pm on Friday 7th January, at the Southall Conservative Club as usual.

When we get back, we will recommence rehearsals for our Summer show, featuring extracts from the musicals.

Merry Christmas!
